Viking Polaris

The Viking Polaris Cruise Ship is a polar 6 expedition cruise ship and the second expedition ship in the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet and sister ship to Viking Octantis cruise ship. It was launched in 2022 and underwent a significant refurbishment in 2025. The update refreshed interiors, dining spaces and onboard technology and with capacity for 378 guests and a crew of around 260, Viking Polaris offers a calm and spacious environment with an almost 1:1 guest to crew ratio for a personalised feel.

Viking Polaris sails routes that include Antarctica, The Caribbean, Canada & New England and scenic coastal regions of the Americas. These itineraries focus on longer stays in port, immersive shore excursions in the most remote areas in the world giving guests time to explore cities, landscapes and cultural landmarks at an unhurried pace.

Culinary Experiences on Viking Polaris

Polaris’ dining programme is shaped around fresh, locally inspired cuisine. The Main Restaurant presents menus that reflect the flavours of the regions visited, using seasonal ingredients and contemporary European recipes.

The World Café provides relaxed buffet dining with live cooking stations, while Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant serves traditional Italian dishes in a warm and intimate setting. The Chef’s Table offers a tasting experience with multi course menus paired with carefully selected wines.

Panoramic lounges such as the Wintergarden and Explorer’s Lounge provide ocean views and comfortable seating. Complimentary beverages are served, creating an inviting space for conversation and quiet reflection.

Staterooms and Suites

All staterooms on the Viking Polaris Cruise Ship include private verandas that allow natural light and uninterrupted sea views. Interiors are designed with simplicity in mind, using soft tones, natural materials and king size beds.

Guests who prefer additional space can choose Penthouse Verandas or Explorer Suites, which offer larger living areas and enhanced amenities. The ship’s layout ensures a strong connection to the ocean from both private and shared spaces.

One of the defining features of Viking Polaris is its Observation Deck. This dedicated space offers 270 degree views, making it ideal for watching sunsets, wildlife and dramatic coastlines.
