Why Norwegian Luna Was the Perfect Family Cruise Getaway

Our recent Caribbean cruise aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Luna was everything we hoped for in a family holiday - relaxing, entertaining, and effortless from start to finish.

Travelling with my husband and our 15-year-old daughter, we found Norwegian Luna to be the true “Goldilocks” of cruise ships: not too big, not too small, but perfectly balanced for families wanting plenty of variety without feeling completely overwhelmed by the sheer scale of it all.

There was always something happening on board to keep us thoroughly entertained. From the incredible live music at Syd Norman’s Pour House and spectacular theatre shows like Elton, to the lively poolside entertainment, the ship boasted a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day and well into the evening. Yet, crucially for us, Luna also offered plenty of quiet corners and secluded lounges where we could escape the hustle and bustle, unwind with a good book and simply enjoy the stunning ocean views.

The dining was another major standout of the holiday. We made full use of our Free at Sea package and treated ourselves to speciality dining at Sukothai, Onda and Los Lobos. Each restaurant offered something completely different from the main dining rooms, and every single meal delivered exceptional food and top-tier service that made our evenings feel like a proper event.

However, it was Hudson’s that quickly became one of our absolute favourite places on board. The design is nothing short of stunning, with floor-to-ceiling windows ensuring that virtually every table offers a sweeping sea view. We especially loved how cleverly the service stations were hidden away in the centre of the restaurant, keeping the entire space elegant, open and focused entirely on the beautiful scenery outside.

Our Caribbean itinerary was absolutely perfect for switching off and recharging our batteries. One of the holiday highlights was stopping at Tortola, where we ventured over to Cane Garden Bay Beach. The taxi journey across the island’s steep hills was honestly more thrilling than some theme park rides, but the breathtaking, panoramic views at the top made every single twist and turn entirely worthwhile.

Overall, Norwegian Luna delivered the ultimate family getaway. It is a ship that genuinely offers something for everyone, combining amazing dining, fantastic entertainment, and that elusive, ideal balance of excitement and relaxation.
