Star Princess Reaches Major Milestone Ahead of Debut 

Princess Cruises’ newest Sphere-Class ship, Star Princess, has completed her sea trials and is now preparing to welcome guests on her maiden voyage from Barcelona on October 4, 2025.

A New Era of Cruising 

Built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, Star Princess is the second in the innovative Sphere-Class, following the award-winning Sun Princess. At 177,800 tons and with a capacity for 4,300 guests, she represents not only one of Princess Cruises’ most advanced vessels, but also one of its most environmentally conscious. Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the ship significantly reduces emissions while still delivering an incredible onboard experience. 

Tested and Ready for the Seas 

From August 9–12, Star Princess underwent extensive sea trials in the Adriatic Sea. Captain Gennaro Arma, a 27-year Princess Cruises veteran, oversaw the tests, which included propulsion, steering, and navigation systems. Equipped with Azipod propulsion units and advanced bow thrusters, the ship demonstrated impressive manoeuvrability and power efficiency. 

Captain Arma shared his excitement: 

“We confidently led Star Princess through sea trials. As the proud leader of our newest vessel, I’m extremely impressed with the ship’s navigation capabilities and manoeuvrability. With the final countdown underway, my incredible teammates and I can’t wait to welcome guests aboard for unforgettable adventures this fall.”
